Chocolate Faberge Egg ” tartelette fraise”  by Albarock

And fill with a sweet surprise!

I have always loved jewelled Fabergé eggs. Several years ago, I had the pleasure of viewing some of the exquisite Imperial Easter Eggs at a museum exhibition in San Francisco. They knocked my socks off. I love how each egg has a miniature surprise treasure inside.

“Rose Trellis”: On April 22, 1907, Tsar Nicholas II presented this egg to his wife, Alexandra Fedorovna. The egg contained as a surprise a diamond necklace and an ivory miniature portrait. Medium: gold, enamel, diamonds. Photo: creative commons.

The story of Fabergé

The story of Fabergé is inextricably linked to the lives, loves and tragedy of the last Romanov Tsar Nicholas II and his Empress Alexandra, and to the Russian Revolution that changed the course of world history. Of Huguenot origin, with a febrile imagination, protean talent and entrepreneurial instincts, Peter Carl Fabergé became jeweller and goldsmith to the great Russian Imperial Court, creating exquisite jewels and objects, including the legendary series of lavish and ingenious Imperial Easter Eggs. – www.faberge.com
